National Junior Honor Society

In 2022, Galvez Middle will be installing a local chapter of the National Junior Honor Society and initiating members.  This will occur in the Spring of 2022.   According to the NJHS website, 

"NJHS chapters and students are in schools that care not only about student achievement, but also community engagement.

NJHS students and their peers volunteer in their communities at the highest rates and make connecting with and serving within the community a priority."

Youth Legislature

Louisiana's Youth Legislature is an organization that gives students an opportunity to learn about and participate in the legislative process with the goal of inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.  Students in grades 7-8  are invited to join YL based on teacher recommendation and their interest in public speaking, debate, or leadership.  

Youth Legislature members participate in a 2-day mock legislative session and elect their governing officials from among their peers. Attendees also serve on legislative committees.  They may draft, debate, and pass/fail bills during the mock session. 

Galvez Middle's Youth Legislature members will attend session on March 30-31, 2022. 

Band

Our band members have had a longstanding tradition of exciting crowds at pep rallies, football games, parades, and assemblies.  They have also attended festival, where they are judged on their skill.
